Waterlogged and saline soils In many area’s in the world irrigation is the base of success. However often irrigation is also the cause of water logging and salinity problems. Due non-existing natural drainage resources good soils get water logged. In combination with evaporation of the water resources a unhealthy amount of minerals remain in the soil causing salinity. Areas once fertile are now wasted due to over-irrigation. One can find these area’s anywhere in the world. Mayor projects have been undertaken in Egypt, Pakistan, Mexico, Uzbekistan, etc. One of the solutions to water logging and salinity is sufficient drainage in other to flush the salts from the soils and drain the water out of the effected area.
Also china has not been unaffected by water logging and
salinity problems. |
